Green Journey

Green JourneY

The audience are taken on a silent disco journey through the city. Like a strange flock of birds wearing headphones they dance around the trees, bend over the flowers and the weeds and seem to be moving through our world with an elevated sense of their surroundings. An elf leads the charge, while through the headphones comes voice and music in a soundscape inviting all to look again at nature in the city. The plants that squeeze through the paving stones, the ivy against the walls and the trees and bushes that selflessly provide our daily oxygen. In a dreamy journey, cie Vloeistof (NL) and cie Jozsef Trefeli (CH), with music creation by Kettel (NL), pay a loving tribute to the green among all the grey.

“This work is actually a ritual for the appreciation of the power of nature. One can let oneself be carried away by the current. You feel like a remote-controlled robot, but that's actually reassuring. Passers by notice this odd looking group of people with headphones and they have to laugh too. This work belongs in Kaapstad Festival because it makes you look at the world differently. You no longer take nature for granted.”

– Sander van Bussel, Programmer Kaapstad Festival
